Saundra MitchellSaundra Mitchell is an American screenwriter and author of nearly 20 books for children and young adults. She was born in Indiana in 1973. Her 2009 debut novel ''Shadowed Summer'' was nominated for an Edgar Award by the Mystery Writers of America. Other notable works include 2011's ''The Vespertine'', published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. It was very well-reviewed, described by ''Booklist'' as "equal parts vivid period detail, gothic melodrama, and foreboding premonitions coming true . . . an absorbing tale."
In non-fiction, Mitchell is the author of the ''They Did What!?'' series for young readers and is the editor of YA anthologies ''Defy the Dark'', ''All Out'', and ''All Out Now''.
